About the ORA

The Ontario Rodeo Association (O.R.A.) was formed in 1957 at the Bar 11 Ranch, just outside Dundas, Ontario.

It was formed to promote rodeo in Ontario and produce a standard set of rules to be followed by the rodeo cowboys and producers as well as a set of rules to protect the stock used in rodeos from inhumane treatment.

The ORA works with the Roping Association of Ontario and the Ontario High School Rodeo Association, creating a natural progression for the athletes climbing the ranks. Currently, the seven standard events are Saddle Bronc Riding, Bareback Bronc Riding, Bull Riding, Tie-down Roping, Steer Wrestling, Team Roping, and Ladies Barrel Racing. Optional events include Breakaway Roping, Junior Steer Riding, and Junior Barrels.
