The International Finals Rodeo wrapped up Sunday, January 17th in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma after it's 4-round competition to solidify IPRA World Championships and IFR 40 Champion Buckles.

First, congratulations to Matt Mousseau of Dashwood, Ontario. Our 3-time ORA Year-end Champion Steer Wrestler went to IFR 40 in the number one spot in the World Standings, and with the title of Reigning IPRA World Champion. Mousseau had a stellar IFR, placing in a few rounds, finishing 2nd in the aggregate and winning his second World Championship! Now he's the first Canadian to win TWO World Championships in the IPRA!

Next, Rod Weese, our 2006 ORA Rookie of the Year is now the 2009 IPRA All Around Rookie of the Year and Steer Wrestling Rookie of the Year! Weese had a great first showing at the IFR, and even finished 3rd overall in the Aggregate.

Also doing big things were Ross Scully, 2007 ORA Tiedown Year-end Champion, placing in a round and finishing 3rd in the Aggregate in Tiedown Roping and Luke McCoag, 2008 ORA Year-end Champion Bull Rider, placed in a round and finished 4th in the Aggregate in Bull Riding.

Other ORA Members that hit paydirt in Oklahoma City:

• Tyler Foster placed in a round in the Steer Wrestling
• Ross Scully and Stewart Cahill placed in a Round in Team Roping
• Ian Charman Placed in a round in Bull Riding

Other notable awards included IPRA Outdoor Rodeo of the Year awarded to Ste. Tite, Quebec, with the festival winning for the 11th consecutive time. The Rawhide Rodeo Company won most active Producer and Stock Contractor in the IPRA, and #48 High Time Gal of Rawhide Rodeo Company won the 2009 Saddle Bronc Horse of the Year World Championship.

A record number of Canadians qualified for IFR 40, making Canada (Ontario-Quebec-Alberta) the second largest contingent to Oklahoma. And, of the $250,000 purse at IFR 40, Canadians were able to pull in over $24,000, plus 5 Buckles!
